A metal dealer is not the problem as they are nearby, but the labor costs here are bad (big city), and my own time is very limited. I am having to compare buying parts versus having them made.
I have to admit that I had it very easy until recently when the machinist who did small jobs for me died. I would supply the materials and designs, he would usually just do the job for a case of his favorite beer.
The only good thing is that the welding shop does not have a problem working on automotive stuff or aluminum and they keep it within reason.
