Hi Keith,

Welcome to the club!

I just had a peek at your pics and boy, it sure
reminds me of when I got my 80" (See S1 garage -
Runcle Rover pics).

You definitely have a 53 - 80" with the siamese bore
engine (remote oil filter in front of starter). Don't
worry about the alternator. The original generator
was marginal when new. Everyone I know that actually
uses their 80" eventually converts it over to a Delco
alternator (hmmm, 30watts vs 107watts...a no brainer).

There are lots of resources here in Ontario that can
help you with your 80". I seriously recommend that
you join the OVLR (Ottawa Valley Land Rovers -
www.ovlr.org). They are one of the largest and best
LR clubs on this side of the Atlantic. We probably
have 15 80" between all the members (~5 in the valley,
3 around Toronto, several more scattered around
Ontario, and probably another 5-10 out west and in the
States.

Your best bet for parts is Dunfolds, in the UK
(www.dunsfold.com). Also, check out the UK LR Series
one club (hmm, link seems to be down, again... check
on the S1garage links.)

I also agree with the comments about parts books and
service manual. Invaluable.

If you need any help or assistance, feel free to drop
me a line or give me a call (email me offline for my
tel).

Regards,
