If someone is about to rewrite ttree I have a small idea:
Since it will probably be splitted up into several modules and a wrapper
script, why not add parameters/config variables to the script which
tells it to use alternative modules for any of it's standard ones, which
then normally would be a subclass of the standard module it replaces.

That way it will be very easy to alter any part without having to mess
around with the rest of the code.
