Hi Tom,
I hadn't thought about the fact that the railroad won't take our Rovers.
That means we're looking at the Baie-Comeau/Labrador City Road which,
checking http://www.twoseasonsinn.com/en/directions.htm, doesn't look to
bad although it is long at 581km. From the 2004 Official Highway Map of
Newfoundland and Labrador the other legs are:
Labrador City/Churchill Falls 238km
Churchill Falls/Goose Bay 288km
Cartwright/Red Bay 411km
Total road, Baie-Comeau/Blac Sablon 1518km
The ferry Goose Bay/Cartwright runs in summer (I'll have to check exactly
what that means), and does take cars. The presumed route would be
west-to-east, placing the longest leg first. Re the coastal boat from
Blanc Sablon to Sept Iles, it transported cars and trucks when I took it
in '95, although it's not a ferry -- the vehicles are loaded as freight in
containers. May have changed, but I doubt it given that it's the only way
vehicles can be delivered to the outports. It's a three day cruise.
