Actually, in the S1 garage, under the documents sectionis a complete
description of converting an 80" over to alternator, including drawing
of the bracket you will need and what to do to the electrics.
Basically, you'll need to convert to -'ve ground from +'ve, make up a
new bracket and drill out the center of the LR dyno pulley to fit the
alternator. The smaller the alternator body, the better, as it's a
fairly tight fit. A new Dyno belt is also a problem as it needs to have
stretched a bit before it will fit over the now, slightly further away
pully.
However, it's well worth the trouble. Mine works great and I can now
run high wattage lights without any problems.

Martin

I am new here on vintage electrical systems. I have not got my
50 LR home yet. Is the 1950 LR a positive or negative ground?
Can you still hook up a one-wire alternator instead of the
generator on it if it is a positive ground? Randall Keizer Canada
