I was told you can put rear 109 SIIa brakes in the front (one slave) and
that would greatly improve the breaking.  So one option would be to get the
IIa back plates and the slave cylinder and bolt them on.  The rest is the
same.  (drum and shoes.)

It is very important that the front wheels lock before the rear wheels, to
avoid spins under hard braking. Hard to imagine in a Land Rover, perhaps,
but any slippery surface like mud or snow or wet pavement gets very exiting
if you can't brake properly!
