Everyone's advice was perfect. I bought this tool from a craft shop and
purchased cork/rubber gasket in a sheet. I cut it to size and it worked
perfectly.

I've done this and it works a treat.
But watch out for what type of rubber you use - some swell up quite a
lot.
Cork would be best.
