Having followed this thread for a while it seems to be the majority opinion
that seat belts are a good idea.
I fitted a set of inertia reel belts into my SW years ago, They are the sort
where the over shoulder belt clips into a separate adjustable lap belt.
The reel is bolted to the bulkhead behind the Drivers (and passengers) seat.
The photographs, S1 Garage, Phils Garage, Page 1,fromabove and page
2,cleansticks show this.
The other end of theshoulder belt is bolted to the horizontal plate below
the front hoodstick bracket. The lap belt is boted to one of the seat mounting
brackets.
I do feel safer wearing them though I am under no illusion that these
mountings would give (even though they can be reinforced) in the event of a head on
crash. They have, however, proved effective when I went into a front wheel
skid on ice at 10mph and into the corner of a brick building. The front bumper
got bent but I didn't.
As they are reaching their sell by date now I am considering the modern type
that plug into a flexible arm. I am sure you could weld or bolt this to the
chassis cross member and bring the flexible arm up through the seat box. Has
anyone tried this?
