Having realised my mistake and turned at J8 to come back south down the M60 there were then plenty of signs for Sheffield & M67, but from the M56 the only sign I saw for the M60 took you straight onto the northern route with no option to go south & east. Although, as I said, my map shows that you could go either way. Ah well, live & learn, perhaps I'll find it next time, I've been caught out there before so was trying to be especially observant !
