Yes, as far as anyone can tell the chassis did remain the same.

Again that would seem to be correct, but I don't know if anyone has identified the exact
date.  Problem is that the steel panel is prone to rust and was also another area for steel
to aluminium corrosion.  This means that over the years some steel have been replaced with
the earlier aluminium panel.

Yes, the mountings on the axle are wider, so the strip was added.
