The drum seems to be stuck on due to rust and grime buildup. You could try
applying heat to the drum near the bolt holes. Use a hand held propane torch
or an oxy acetylene set. Heat the drum evenly while rotating it. then tapp
it gently with a hammer. Hopefully the heart expansion on the drum will
loosen it up to be temoved. Any buildup of greasy grime should be removed
prior to applying open flame for obvious reasons.

Good-day All,

So far I've just been lurking and enjoying the Series
I information that arrives in my Inbox daily, but
today I myself have a question for the gurus!

I've been disassembling my '55 86", and I've come
across a very stuck transmission handbrake drum. The
6 nuts holding the drum on have been removed (that was
the easy part! :) and the drum (plus rear prop-shaft)
is able to rotate freely (no pads seized inside). The
drum itself (according the workshop manual) is
supposed to be able to slide off, over the rear-prop.
shaft, however this is definitly not case. I had a
look for, but cannot find, the smaller screw that is
present on the wheel drum brakes for 'popping' the
drum. A mallet was also involved (both for attempting
to loosen the drum, and venting of some minor
frustrations) for tapping around both the outside
(circumference) and the face of the drum.

Is there such a screw on the transmission handbrake,
and I just need to further de-grunge and find it? Or
is there a more clever way to approach this? Any
suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks advance!
-- Adam
