Ben,
I can recommend Model Steam Engine oil for bronze steering boxes. It is of
about the right consistency and has an amazing ability to reject water. I
assume this is because it is designed to lubricate pistons and maintain a
lubricating film in the presence of live steam. Fine in the UK climate but
not sure how it would perform in your winter!
Nick.

The Dentax 80W90 is readily available in Canada. It also comes in 140, but
my steering box doesn't leak enough to justify buying 20 litres.
