Grab it (the Capstan winch) they are as rare as hens teeth.  The last one I
saw in Oz was $AU 250.00.

When you are talking about the drive dog.  Are you talking about the 'drive
plate' that bolts onto the engine crank shaft or the entire mechanism
driving flange, shaft housing etc that some people may describe as a 'dog
clutch'?

If its just the drive plate that's missing, I believe I have a spare from a
series II, 2.28 litre motor which can be adapted to the 1997cc motor of your
86".  Otherwise you can get spares and the brackets etc from Bob Jones in
the UK, I got the brackets sent out so I could re fit the winch after the
2.28 litre came out. I have his email if you need it.  If you fit a V8 like
you mentioned previously then you may need to make up the brackets and
modify the harmonic balancer yourself.

On another point you don't want to make up the top, the back side and crank
handle hole for another front cross member do you?  I have some
de-Holdenising to do on one of my 80".  A couple of engine mounts would also
be good and your work looks so nice!  Just kidding, I guess I have some
welding education to come!
