I've given up on this one!

My 86" has the problem between 40 & 60mph.  I installed a new cable - no
improvement.

I went to a chap who specialises in repairing gauges for classic / vintage
cars - he checked / tested the gauge and said that there was nothing wrong
with it!

I tightened the nut at the back of the box - no improvenment!

Only remaining possibility (to my mind) is where the cable connects in the
gearbox - & I'm definitely not going there for something like this.

So Bertie waves at me most of the time - telling me that she likes the speed
at which I'm going (not too fast and not too slow)!  ;-)
