The only thing I could find that was strong enough to clamp the neck of
the steering box was the large end of a connecting rod. It clamps
tight and the pressure is distributed evenly, unlike a hose clamp for
a radiator. The only piece you have to make is the spacer which was a
short length of brass pipe split in half to go around the box. You
need to hog out a couple of dimples to clear the rivets. but it's
pretty basic and so far, works fine
