Hi Graham, Don't take all the end float out you need a small amount to account for when the starter get's hot!

I've used a sparing amount of graphite, just need to make a shim to take out the endfloat now and hopefully reliable starting will be restored.

The sleeve in mine has been held together with epoxy for over a year - the rubber was rotating
in the steel sleeve.

I have been advised to use no grease or oil on the bendix; if you want to lubricate it use dry graphite.
