I tried everything I could think of, and nothing worked until I made up 
a spare cap for the fluid reservoir, with a bicycle valve mounted in the 
centre.  A bit of pressure with a hand pump and everything bled easily.  
A word of caution, the seal on the cap only allows a wee bit of 
pressure, so use a hand pump and don't over-pressurize.
