Just tried to fit my replacement steering wheel into the series 1 and it = doesn't fit! I was told when I bought it the steering box was one from a series 2, = this apparently being better than the original series 1 box. The = original wheel didn't fit this so it has an old rover one. I bought a = series 2 wheel but when I came to fit it the splined end of the column = is too narrow. So here's the question, the splined end of my steering column is narrow, = about 19mm, the original (series 1) column is wider, about 23mm. The = series 2 wheel I bought fits the wider 23mm column but not the narrow = 19mm one obviously. So the upshot is I am very confused. Can anyone tell me what sizes these = columns should be, series 1, series 2 and 2a and when the changes were = made, if it's that simple??? Thanks again for any help.
