Hi Tom et al,

On this side of the pond the problem would not so much be the lack of
people willing to glue a Landy back together but the lack of people
willing to go to the boss and say, "I've got this Landy, and if we go here
and ask for this, in some indeterminate time and at some indeterminate
cost we'll have an old Landy that may or may not meet our requirement."
Companies pay for certainty -- an 109" Series III off-the-shelf that they
can drive off the lot might be attractive. The problem with Defenders is
that they are children of the computer age, like every other modern ride.

I know this isn't an engine, but I know people cheerfully pay a premium
for this approach over the local garage engine rebuild, and I'd assume
some (very) small number of Landys might be marketed this way. Just a
thought, borne of the completely different reaction from Landy and
non-Landy types to my recent drive.
