Yes, it will work.

The advance curve will not be as well suited to the engine as the 
correct model of dizzy, however most of them are so worn that they have 
loads of slop anyway.

I have a dizzy from a 2.25 in my spread-bore 2.0, and it runs just fine.
I fitted a luminition kit, and it's great!

NB: check the price of a standard dizzy, and a luminition kit: it may be 
cheaper!
