Does your car still have the plate on the fire wall with the chassis
number, because the 109 Diesel has a factory mod to the inner L/H wing
so the extra battery would fit there, could be its been changed to
petrol engine or a Diesel wing fitted.

The 109 is from 1957 and the left-hand wing is factory-prepaired to
hold the
air cleaner, so intake air is going across the engine into the SU
carb.
