Tony, you are right !
The left hand wing was not prepaired to hold the air cleaner, but designed
to hold the extra battery.
Chassis number shows a petrol engine and the extra space for the battery
came in handy to fit the air cleaner, because the air inlet on the SU is
pointing in that direction.
Last week, I picked up a 107 in the UK, which was on sale on Ebay. I bought
the wreck for its back body, which was missing on my car, and now I can use
the engine, which is fitted with a Solex carb, as well.
