Readers of the February edition of land Rover Enthusiast might have noticed that the possible reprint of James Taylor’s book ‘The Original Land-Rover Series1’ got a mention! There was a similar mention in the last edition of ‘Legend’, the Series 1 Club magazine. I have received a few expressions of interest in a re-print of the book as a result of these ‘articles’ but not as many as I might have hoped. The small number of expressions of interest might be because an extra digit appears in my phone number as printed in LRE….thankfully the e-mail address was spot on!
Andrew Bullas, Secretary of the 1948-53 Register has been in touch to give support to the project. He made a suggestion that echoed my own thinking; perhaps we should approach the S1 Club to see if they might consider supporting (i.e. funding) a reprint of the book? He pointed out that the Register have just financed a limited print run of ‘Land Rover – The Early Years’ but pointed out that the publishing rights/copyright to the book were already owned by a club member thus reducing their expenses somewhat. It is also possible that some of the parts suppliers for S1s might be interested in ‘signing up’ for a quantity of the book as might LRE’s bookshop! Let me know what your thoughts are on this.
    Regards,
