Hello everyone,
Many thanks to everyone for the help finding the crossmember I needed.
Bearmach had one once I knew that the later one would fit, and it's
all welded in and painted now :-).
I now feel that perhaps I ought to try and do something better with
the wiring than just try and bodge the mess that a succession of
owners have made. I'd like to get rid of the plastic trailer lights
that someone has fitted on the back, and put something more original
on. What rear lamps would be correct for a 1955 86"? There appears to
have been a round hole, about 1.5" across with a smaller 1/4 inch hole
either side where previous lights have been.
I would also like to wire them up to flash in the original way, I've
seen Heritage Parts' advert in The Legend selling a Flasher Switch
for 25gbp, and the wiring diagram on their website:
http://213.152.32.251/newheritage/flasher%20switch%20wiring.gif
Makes it look like that would be all I needed to wire a conventional
flasher relay to the rear brake lights. Has anyone done this? How easy
would it be to then add a (modern) trailer socket? It looks fairly
easy, but I've never been involved in trailer wiring, could I just add
the trailer lights to the circuit for the front indicators?
Thanks again,
--Toby
