Greetings to everyone.

I've just started the process of restoring the above model.

We picked it up several years ago from the wreckers for only $50.00 then
gave it to a guy who does up old vehicles (willies jeep and LR) to look at.

Finally got it back from the guy who recons it's not worth doing up, but
offered to buy it from us for about $500.00. As you will see below, it is
doable, as long as you have the time and patience to spend on it, in-between
looking after my 3 year old boy who loves "the ute" as he calls it and my 7
month old daughter.

I've started with pulling apart the panels (love how the doors and bonnet
just slid off) and stripping them for repainting. Once these have been
cleaned, its off to the welder to have some stress fractures repaired.

The under body structure is in good condition for its age, from what I can
see at the moment, there is only surface rust to worry about, but might
change when she's been stripped down.

That's the easy parts.

The hardest parts will the mechanical side of it, engine (original was
replaced with a Holden engine at some time in its life), gearbox,
electric's, driveshaft, axle, brakes etc.

The info that I have been receiving so far (only subscribed last week) is
great and will help in future.

As I go along, I will be calling for a helping hand in fixing things up,
finding parts and seeing who is out there doing the same, especially in my
part of the world.

I have some photo's of my SI and will send of a couple for everyone to look
at later, with a list of parts that I will be looking for.

Question - Does any one have details plans and drawings that they could send
me on how to make and recover the front seats - the only material left on
mine is what in between the metal seat back and the support bracket. My wife
is a Boat Trimmer and Textiles Teacher and is going to re-cover the seats
for me - cheaper then getting them spec made.

Until then.
