Hi Gang & particularly George,

Some members may recall that, having fitted a s/hand Fairey overdrive some
months ago, it was very noisy when engaged. Well, I was offered another by
the garage but before we got round to fitting it, curiously the noise level
dropped after a few hundred miles and so whilst it is still a bit whiney it's
liveable with and seems to be improving all the time.

Someone else told me that it may not be the overdrive itself at all, but
rather a slight mis-mesh where it mates with the main gearbox / transfer box.
They had cured the same problem by fitting a couple of shims somewhere so that
the cogs lined up better.

Any thoughts, anyone ?

Regards to all,

Anthony
