    Hi Diana,
Been following the possum thread with interest and keeping my head
down. Interesting colours there, have never seen anything but the
standard offering on an australian 80". As far as I can tell, the
upholstery was the same green on the early light green 80's and the
later deep bronze green ones. That is an unsusual body colour for sure
for a "local" 80". What colour is the chassis?
I have seen NOS 80" steering columns/boxes (but not for many years
sadly) and they were all black. Note that the former BMR (Bureau of
Mineral Resources) painted all of their Land Rovers bright orange in the
early years and later on a bright yellow, the change occuring around
1955/56. The BMR were in the habit of repainting in the same manner that
the army does, ie. if somebody thought of masking the windows, they did
not get painted along with everything else including all of the
galvanised bits. Is it possible that the steering box is from a former
BMR vehicle?
    Cheers
    Allan
