To follow through with the colour thing. The firewall/bulkhead, when I took
the dash panel off and each of the little plates and brackets I came down to
a limestone colour. The same deal on the tub and wings/fenders/mudguards (I
thought U would like the plains/boats/automobiles ref.). When I use paint
stripper and under the gal bits the remaining colour is always limestone and
have not found an undercoat on any aluminium panel which would indicate a
re-paint job at that level. The vehicle was painted multiple times my
opinion: original limestone, then a canary yellow (yes straight over the gal
bits), then a red, then NSW Bush Fire Brigade Orange, then bronze green.
The drivers and passengers doors are a different matter and appear to have
originally been bronze green, although they may have been swapped at some
time.

The chassis is slightly different there was a green coating strongly
adherent to the metal. This coating reminded me of the green colour you
sometimes find on the threads of original bolts. The first layer of what
looked like paint was the same limestone colour as the main body panels. If
you discount the green coating, the chassis had been painted at least twice,
first limestone then a yellow reminiscent of the paint used in the unexposed
parts of some aircraft.

The steering rods, seem to have been both black and later green. What is
the original configuration? Black or the arms and/or rods matching the
chassis colour?

I don't know what the acronym NOS means?

Diana

    Hi Diana,
That is an unsusual body colour for sure for a "local" 80".

What colour is the chassis?

I have seen NOS 80" steering columns/boxes (but not for many years
sadly) and they were all black.

    Cheers
