Anthony

Thank you for your general knowledge.

Coober Pedy is about the centre of South Australia (where the 2nd Au/NZ =
cricket test was playing) is above the bite out of the bottom of the =
Australian Continent. Mt Isa is in the Western third of Queensland =
below the gap between the bump and the pointy bit of Australia. see map =
http://www.mynrma.com.au/travel/go/maps/pdfs/australia_full.pdf

Both places get real hot 45+C although Mt Isa is in the "tropic zone" =
without the wet and Coober Pedy "temperate zone". There is less than a =
dozen towns between Coober Pedy and Mt Isa although many hundreds of =
Kilometres. The journey between the two places would take you through =
the "real outback" and make a great holiday. =20

I'm sure Allan and the other Aussie list members will agree with me, =
that any Northern Hemisphere list member who knows more that just Sydney =
and Melbourne as being in Australia makes a welcome change.

Regards

Diana

P.S. It is 08:30hrs, raining in Sydney and 20 degree Celsius, 18 degree =
in Canberra and expected to get to the low 20's in both places.

Hi Allan,

Obviously my Australian geography isn't as good as I thought it was, had =
an idea Coober Pedy was up by Mt Isa somewhere ! This was probably =
because I recall hearing reports of it being the hottest place on one of =
the ocassions we were out in Oz. We have 'rellos' in Canberra, =
incidentally, in Wanniassa.

Cheers,

Anthony
