Bob / Diana,

Chassis numbers went above 16136120 as I have 16136568 under restoration in
Texas.
I am told that the 6120 number is the end of a record book and one must be
missing from the set, at Gaydon not sure how true this is, keep meaning to
contact "traceability"and get mine dated.

Mine must have been built in June 1951, all dated parts are May / June 51
(and still with the truck!)
As are all numbered parts.

I have exchanged e-mail with the owner of 1613686? which has the later
bulkhead, lights, wings and door handles as per 52 models but still has a
1600 engine.

Body for sale appears to be similar vintage to mine, it has the bulkhead
lights capped and holes in wings, marking it as a NAS spec.
There are other detailed differences, licence plate holder, some wiring, no
bump stops in wings etc.
John Taylor is a little vague on some points of these vehicles so more help
photos would be apreciated.

Bob, if you could provide me with a tracing of the wing fronts I would
really appreciate it. Mine have been cut, also detail of the centre licence
plate holder if you have it.
Mine is missing a part and I can't figure out quite how it mounts on the
tailboard.
There is an alloy "loop" riveted to teh tailboard then the holder has two
eyes fro pivot bolts.
Parts book shows a "box" like structure that pivot bolts go into, but how
does this mount to the tail board?

Would like to get that body down here as it would really help me out.!

Rgds

Simon

Diana,

If we REALLY want to get pedantic my 80" does not have bulkhead lights,
but does have the receptacles and it is #16136629 with a 28 June 1951
birth date -- courtesy of John Riley at Solihull.

I also checked the SOG for VIN numbers. It states that there were only
6120 LHD export Land Rovers produced in 1951, yet mine is 16136629 and
as you state there were vehicles numbers up to at least 16136866. Is
there anyone who really knows the correct number?
