Failing the possession of a gearbox input shaft, it is possible to use
wooden dowel such as a broom handle. However what you need to check is that
the outside diameter (OD) of the dowel is the same as inside diameter (ID)
of the sintered bearing in the flywheel.

This will only give you a guide as the ID of the clutch thrust plate spline
is slightly larger than the OD of the sintered bearing. You need to centre
the thrust plate spline over the dowel. If necessary you can adjust the OD
of the dowel to match the spline ID by adding appropriate collars of
compressed cardboard be sure not to overlap the ends.

The ideal is still the gearbox input shaft.

You could use agearbox input shaft if you have one lying about the
place.
