SER1 Steering box/bulkhead support

Hi All,
I am in the process of rebuilding my 1957 series one (very slowly!) and
having removed the front wings, noticed that there is quiet a bit of flexing
in the Steering box/bulkhead support. This is the piece which has three
bolts to hold it to the chassis, and two to hold it to the bulkhead. My
steering has always been a bit vague, but I would not have thought that this
item should flex so much. I have not completely removed it yet (tomorrows
job) so I suppose it could be cracked?
As always, any advice more than welcome!
