Mark,

The same part on my '57 107 SW has a lot of flex in it too. It's
bothered me at times; I've tightened up the mounts, but movement seems
the same. Nothing has broken yet, but has surprised me in the past how
much is moves compared to a later Series version. I've thought of
welding on stiffeners if it ever cracks.

Hi All,=20

I am in the process of rebuilding my 1957 series one (very slowly!) and
having removed the front wings, noticed that there is quiet a bit of
flexing in the Steering box/bulkhead support. This is the piece which
has three bolts to hold it to the chassis, and two to hold it to the
bulkhead. My steering has always been a bit vague, but I would not have
thought that this item should flex so much. I have not completely
removed it yet (tomorrows job) so I suppose it could be cracked?

As always, any advice more than welcome!=20
