My 1960s-originated Lambretta-based Scrambler/Moto-cross bike (Don't ask
- it's a VERY long story, and subject of a DVD that I hope to produce
later this year) proves the theory, courtesy of Dunlop.

The rear tyre is a 10-inch one, originally designed for fitting to
motorised cultivators and trailed implements such as gang mowers. The
sidewalls are marked with arrows to show the fitting direction - for
'Tractor' the Y points forward at the top of the tyre, and for
'Implement' it's backwards.

If I'm walking my dog in these wonderful North York Moors, I can always
tell whether the tractor prints I'm following are leading me towards or
away from the machine - the 'arrows' on the ground show where it came
from.
