I would support this. I was shut out from the Garage during some sort of MSN
upgrade a while ago and miss it.
I would also make a (modest) financial contribution to support a move to a
more user friendly forum.
Nick.

Subject: SER1 Move the Series One Garage
Hi Will,
the MSN Groups service was chosen to host the Series One Garage back in 1996
simply because it is free and easy to manage. It does have its shortcomings,
though such as searching for information and setting up a FAQ file. Also,
there are many of us who either can't access MSN or refuse on principle to
be a part of MSN - valid reasons not to participate in the Garage but a loss
to themselves and the list.
I am no Web services pro but, do you have the skills to create a web page
with the functionality of MSN Groups? It would be great if we could migrate
away from MSN. I currently manage the Series One Garage and also hold the
www.seriesonegarage.com domain. I am all in favour of helping set up the new
web site transfer the data and accounts (all 700 of them!!!)

good point. including me. i never get past the MS passport thing, and so
just end up browsing the images.
must try harder.

Thanks. I will.

The FAQ i was imagining would largely work that way, with the addition of a
thin editorial layer on top that highlighted key answers and led people
through the maze, but the last thing I want to do is divert attention away
from SOG towards something that I have to work on :)
