I have access to the 1950 Bulletins, there are about 60 pages in that
particular set. My friend who has the originals also has some later ones
from 1955 I think!

There must be people with the others, what would be really good would be
someone who has a set from a lazy distributor who never threw out bulletins
that were superseded by later ones. Apparently they give you a better idea
of the progression of a problem and the intermediate fixes that we sometimes
still find on our vehicles. Like the graphite rope rear main seal on my
1595 cc.

We should try to find the complete set 1948 through 1958 and then have them
accessible somewhere. I don't know what the implications for copyright may
be if we publish them. Although we may be able to have them available as a
library, only 10% at a time for personal research purposes.

Cheers
Diana

Dear Diana,

I support your view. I do have a .pdf file of the 1948 - 1949 Rover service
bulletins. Till now I didn't find the time to ad an electronic directory
with links, which would make it easier to handle.

Do you have later bulletins to make a complete set?

Perhaps we could publish it on the Series one document place.

I'll have to be a bit quicker to lift my finger off the reply button, it
turns into the send button soooo quickly.

You may have guessed that like a few other members on the list I am a true
believer in having the manuals, particularly the parts manual. Being able
to see what the part looks like can make an explanation so much easier.
Take Alex's starter motor problem, different members kept talking about
early and late types, no bolt, two bolt and three bolt types. Any wonder
poor Alex got confused and acquired the wrong one. I sent the pictures and
scans of the parts catalogue and now he understands what to look for.

Even more recently I have been introduced to the Rover Service Bulletins
(and the later Land Rover Service Bulletins) as a source of information.
What I now find is that assumed facts from the parts catalogue and workshop
manual are actually dealt with and often corrected in the Bulletins. My
task now is to acquire a full set of the bulletins.

So what would be really helpful is for the list to hold a set of the
Bulletins somewhere.

Cheers
Diana

So that's a yes to 'buy the parts catalogue', then?

will

ps. perhaps it's time to revive the idea of a FAQ for the list? I can
put it next to the archive, if people think it would be useful and
are willing to contribute questions and answers. We could start with
a reading list :)
