Hi All,

Two questions - one hopefully easier to answer than the other :-)

Firstly, can a PTO from a later series land rover be fitted to a series
one (1953 80") gearbox. I've just bought one for a bargin price, but I
noticed that the control lever is rather different. This in itself is
not an issue ( I can make a suitable series one looking one) but I'm
concerned that other parts may also not fit.

Secondly and a bit OT ,

On my series 3 (late ex mil 109 FFR) the gear box tunnel cover has a
large rubber bund, under which you would expect the gearbox oil filler
to be (as on a series one), however this hole is blanked off and the
correct way to fill is from underneath through the top level/filler
plug (according to the owners handbook etc.)

Does anyone know why this, seemingly retrograde step was taken - having
just donw an oil change on my series one, and thought I'd do the series
3 at the same time, it brought home how much more awkward the later
gearboxes are to change the oil in.

Thanks for any insight

Jon
