If you have the original local authority log book, a reg plate in any
condition and the vehicle which matches the chassis number etc and can
photograph the remains. (Ours was a heap of parts on a trailer), unless the
rules have changed, (we did it 16 years ago), take the info and photos to
the local DVLA office, fill in their form. They may inspect the vehicle. or
may not. But we did not need the LRSOC or Heritage to get invloved and were
given it's original number back as we wanted, but on a non transferable
basis. Simple procedure. If you do not have the old log book, you will
likely need the club to verify everything before DVLA will touch it.

Subject: SER1 re register without docs
Hi,
We are nearing completion of our rebuild and would like to try and keep the
original registration no, or at least an age related plate.
We have the engine number and the plate stating the car number.
Has anybody gone down this route before, is DVLA the best place to start.
Advice would be most welcome indeed.
Many thanks
Bob
