Yeah, Apache 1 has such poor performance that nearly all of the largest
sites in the world use it...

Seriously, the mod_perl benchmarks I've seen put the performance about
the same.  It may be different for static files, but I don't serve
static files from my mod_perl server.

Apache 1 is fully-supported, and will continue to be.

I'm glad to see people using mod_perl 2, but there is nothing at all
wrong with using Apache 1 for new development.  It is not going away,
and it is the most common platform for new mod_perl development at this
time.
