But were you using a straight non-cached preforked multiprocess
model?  Or did you tweak the Apache2 configuration to use a reverse
proxy or one of the other uncomparable exotic models?

For example, I refuse to run a threaded Perl, so I can't use any of
the Apache2 thread models.
