BM: I'm guessing a Bearmach supplied part.
FRC4586 is the current superseded number for the pinion seal. As Mark said,
the seal is thicker than the original, and I had to push the mud guard back
towards the driveshaft flange to stop it from rubbing the seal.
The spring goes towards the oil which should place the lip facing into the
housing.

Subject: SER1 Oil seal for Pinion!
I received the pinion oil seal for my 56 Series I in the mail today and I'm
a little worried about whether it's the right one or not? The place I
ordered it from assures me that it'll fit all Series rear diffs, but I just
want to confirm this before I start the job! The packet is marked BM No :BR
0668 and RovNo :FRC4586 whether these numbers have any meaning I'm not to
sure. The old seal was a solid steal ring with a groove around the center
radius for a rubber o ring, while the new seal is all rubber with two
springs on ether side of the center lip? sound familiar to any one??
