Hi,

I remember a rope seal in a 1950 or so Chevy 6 that I rebuilt a loong
time ago.

It was like clothesline impregnated with carbon or something. You had
to tap it into the slot then trim the ends.

I wonder if it is available somewhere? and might work?

The engine number is: 16109565 and the VIN:16661747.=A0 (I have been
able to access new original Land-Rover ex-British Army +.060" pistons
without rings (2 compression 1 intermediate stepped scraper and 1 "H"
section scraper ring per piston))

=A0

I need:

=95 =A0+.060" OS Rings (2 compression and 2 scraper) =
for 4
pistons

=95 Con Rod Bushes (little end) for 4 pistons

=95 -.030" US Con Rod (big end) bearing pairs for 4

=95 -.030" US Front Main Bearing pair

=95 -.030" US Rear Main Bearing pair

=95 -.030" US Centre Main Bearing pair (with thrust
washers)

I also need the rear main oil seal for this engine - I have been told
that this may be one of a number of=A0 variations and modifications of
the rear oil seal in this model.=A0 This engine crankshaft does
<underline>not</underline> have the reverse archimedes
screw and the seal is not the same as the leather/neoprene seal used
in the later (1957) 2litre engines.

=A0

The rear seal arrangement is a 2 piece aluminium housing with 2 piece
rope seal=A0 inlaid into a groove in the housing halves.=A0 (It replaces
cast iron oil retainer cap that is fitted to the earlier 1950 engine I
have.)=A0 The crank diameter at this point is 2.331".=A0 I believe this =
a
modification not a standard part.=A0 Any Ideas about this one?
