Ian,
Diana's suggestion is well made.  We have a product in North America 
called PB Blaster which has a solvent component and it makes WD-40 look 
like tap water by comparison.  The screws are very short and inside the 
frame is a corner bracket to which they screw into.  If you can find a 
flat blade screwdiver that just fills the slot you are much less likely 
to damage the head of the screw.  The other old trick is to try 
tightening the screw slightly to break the rust bond.
