I have my bulkhead down to bare metal after being sand blasted and I was
planning on having it painted by a local shop. However, after bringing it
to them the lady behind the calculator had a frenzied exchange with the
buttons and ended up telling me it would cost $1000 USD just to paint the
bulk head and $600 for the remaining steel pieces (only 5 as you know).
that is before even touching the body pannels.
My question is: what the heck can I do now? Can I paint this myself? do I
need to use etching primer? Have the paint fumes gotten to this bunch and
they are way off?
I want to go for the original bronze-green but I am having a terrible time
finding anyone who has any idea what the paint codes mean here in southern
california.
Maybe I should just have the bulk head powder coated black?
Would be a shame as it is a great little 55 86" with all the matching
numbers.
Basically I need advice from an old Landy expert as this is my first rover
and the oldest car I have delt with.
I have a bunch of bare metal parts in my garage waiting for me to get a
clue.
thanks,
Ian
