Howdy Mark,

As mentioned, the early series 2 bellhousing is needed to match up the 2.25 
to your 58 transmission.  The series 1 housing looks about right but it is 
off by just a little and the bolt pattern is not the same.  I did a similar 
swap in my '57.  I used the 2.25 bellhousing and put my original clutch 
withdrawal mechanism back on.  This is necessary due to the smaller layshaft 
bearing.  The deisel came out in '57 so there is more room to add in the 
2.25.  I am glad to hear from others that it will fit straight in as I am 
going to install mine this weekend.
