I have no expertise with diffs so won't make a comment about play and =
bearings.

However I did wonder if the teeth fragments were from a previously =
broken axle?

Apparently nobody has had any exposure to this question as there was no =
reply. I have decided to change all bearings and think the axial play of =
the differential wheels is normal.

Having removed the rear differential I find more teeth of something, but =
all visible components seem without harm.

I will replace the pinion bearings. Should I replace the differential =
bearings too, what are your opinions?

The differential wheels have some axial play (1 mm). As it is the first =
time I am going to rebuild one, is this play ok, or does it need to be =
reduced?
