This is my impression too. There were too many fragments, so I would have
noticed something looking at the diff although it is not dismnatled yet.

Ulrico

I have no expertise with diffs so won't make a comment about play and
bearings.

However I did wonder if the teeth fragments were from a previously broken
axle?

Cheers

Apparently nobody has had any exposure to this question as there was no
reply. I have decided to change all bearings and think the axial play of the
differential wheels is normal.

Having removed the rear differential I find more teeth of something, but all
visible components seem without harm.

I will replace the pinion bearings. Should I replace the differential
bearings too, what are your opinions?

The differential wheels have some axial play (1 mm). As it is the first time
I am going to rebuild one, is this play ok, or does it need to be reduced?
