Python has "SQLObject" and "orm" which are both similar to cdbi.
I used orm to read data from a db populated by Class::DBI a year or
so ago.  Personally I like the looks of SQLObject much better than orm
(it wasn't up for the task i used orm for at the time as it had column
naming requirements that have supposedly since been fixed).

An interesting looking thing included with SQLObject is SQLBuilder which
appears to be a hack that can be used to allow writing conditions using
python syntax rather than SQL that ultimately return SQL suitable for
passing to a search function.  nice hack; but scary thought.
