I'm trying to find a good balance here and I'm not sure how much the
features from Ima::DBI (primarily caching, yes?) are worth rejiggering
an existing infrastructure to wedge it in. The main purpose of
Class::DBI is providing an object representation of data in the
database. How does Ima::DBI facilitate this? (My CDBI experience is
about a day old, so forgive any ignorance.)

Use the same database handle for Class::DBI, SPOPS and DBI-only
requests within an application server. I've already got a datasource
management scheme and gluing that datasource to a Class::DBI class is
pretty easy -- except for this Ima::DBI stuff.
