Allan,

I suspect that winches were fitted at the factory in some cases (and
certainly were not fitted to all 53 86 as previously suggested)

My 51 LHD US spec 80, is currently in resoration I have just finished
sandblasting and repainting the chassis, the tubes were installed before
the chassis was primed, some of the yellow primer remained along with
origional bronze green paint. The winch has gone but the tubes bolts and
engine drive plate remain (anyone have a spare winch with no drive plate?)

None of my previous series ones all RHD UK models, ex RAF  1953 86, 1957 88
inch diesel and 1958 88 inch ex diesel were fitted with the tubes.
